There are so many trendy cuts that are becoming huge for 2010. Grab a pair of hair scissors and get started with your new ‘do-it’s time to transform yourself. Fashion icons are launching new trends daily with the way they wear their hair.

Lately, we’ve seen a definitely resurgence of the bob. Celebs like Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow have chosen this classic cut because of its sleekness. Bobs are perfect for you if you have long hair and want a big change. This ‘do helps highlight your neck and, if you wear it right, can compliment your facial features like cheekbones and shape of your face.

Bobs can be ideal for those with straight or even wavy hair but not recommended for curly hair. Naturally curly hair is better suited for long, luscious locksStars like Kim Kardashian and the Olsen twins rock this style with a part down the middle or you could choose a deep side part for a sleek and sexy look.

Another great hairstyle for 2010 is the classic ponytail. No hair scissors are needed for this trend! It’s refreshing to see the number of high and low ponies on the runways during fashion season this year. You can dress them up or dress them down, but a good pony tail can complete any look. If you have short bangs, you can wear your hair in a ponytail, twist the bangs back and hold them in place with a bobby pin or two.

These are just a few of the hottest trends for your hair in 2010. They are so easy to get because they don’t require too much work from your hair scissors. Many people are following their favorite celebrities in doing these styles on their hair. Be part of the new revolution this fall and the rest of the year!

Many people, especially those with long hair, have heard of Locks of Love. It is an organization that accepts donations of real hair, and uses it to make hair pieces for children who have suffered hair loss due to illness or injury. Beyond that information, however, many people are unaware of what exactly is involved in the process.

To donate, a person must mail their hair (bundled in a pony tail or braid) to the Locks of Loves offices in West Palm Beach, FL. The hair has to be at least 10 inches long and it requires 6 to 10 of these bundles to create one single hair piece. The length requirement is so long because of the manufacturing process. Up to 2 inches of hair is used while creating the hair piece, and the organization tries to leave at least 8 inches of hair (chin length) to satisfy their primary target: little girls.

The retail value of each hair piece is between $3,500 and $6,000 but the children pay very little (or nothing) based on a sliding scale of financial ability. This organization provides an incredible service for children who have suffered severely and gives them a chance to regain at least a little normalcy in their lives. To donate, or to learn more, visit the Locks of Love website.

Many of us, especially as we reach our 20s and 30s, have selected a certain hair cut or hair style that we deem attractive and manageable. When we were kids, we all went through the bangs, then the super-short mushroom cut (Mom: “If you don’t take care of that hair I’m going to chop it all off”) and even the perm or platinum-blonde phase. But now, as we reach mature adulthood, we’ve found one or two cuts and styles that work. But what if we change our minds?

There are many things to consider before making a major hair style change. Although spontaneity seems like a good idea when for the fourth day in a row we can’t get our hair to do anything right and are forced to leave the house with a hat or a pony-tail, overall it’s best to do some planning and consideration before chopping off those locks.

First, consider what you currently don’t like about your hair cut. Is it too long? Too layered? Too top-heavy? Too dark? Too light? Too something else? Just plain awful? Whatever your situation may be, keep in mind the specific things you want to change, before you just waltz into a random salon somewhere.

The most important thing to consider when switching your hair style, is finding a stylist that you like and trust. Because you like and trust your stylist, take his or her word for it when he/she tells you that the hairstyle you’ve selected simply will not work on your hair. Listen to suggestions of how you might slightly change it to work better with your current cut or type of hair.

All in all, when you decide to have a drastic hairstyle change, wait awhile before you actually go through with it. This will give you time to consider what you’ve decided to do and make sure that you don’t regret it a few days later. Trust your stylist and consider all of you options. You don’t want to end up with a flash-back of the perm/bangs/mushroom cut days.

I live in a climate that constantly wreaks havoc on my hair! It’s naturally dry and a little frizzy, but the cold winters and windy springs do nothing to help. It looks so lifeless and dull all the time that I had pretty much accepted my fate of wearing a pony tail every day because there was nothing else I could do.

My sister has hair very much like mine and she has similar problems. She has been telling me for months to try this new “miracle” product she found. My sister is kind of a sucker (sorry sis!) for these kinds of things, so I had ignored her. But then I saw her at our Mom’s birthday party a couple of weeks ago and there was absolutely no denying that she had found hair care that works.

It’s called Wen Haircare by Chaz Dean and it’s the first hair care system that addresses the problem at its roots…literally. It’s a cleansing system, not just a product you put in to style. It doesn’t just perk up your hair for a day, it really changes the quality and look of your hair. I have since purchased the Wen system online and I love it. it was less than $30 for the entire hair care system and they have a 60 day money back guarantee. I recommend this product to anyone!

Everyone is busy and sometimes we don’t have a choice but to go straight from work to a cocktail party or out with friends. There are endless articles about how to make your clothes look great for work and play, but what about your hair? You can use this sexy style to transition from the the office to a night on the town.

Wash your hair with a sleek and shine inducing shampoo and condition and blow dry straight. Hold the hair dryer above your head and dry straight down while combing your tresses straight. Use a thermal protection spray on your hair and wait for it to dry completely. Then straighten your hair with a tourmaline hair straightener (try the Karmin G3) for a silky straight look. This hair style is professional enough for the office, but sexy enough to keep you stylish.

When you’re ready to go out with your girls, pull your hair back into a high pony tail at the crown of your head and secure with an elastic. Pull a small section of hair from the bottom of the pony, twist it and wrap it around the pony tail to hide the elastic . Add an extra sheen with a shine serum to complete the look.

Even when a woman has been using the same styling techniques every day for months, there are some days when she’ll wake up and just not be able to make her hair cooperate. There is nothing more frustrating than doing everything exactly right but still not ending up with the desired results.

Ever been this woman? Not anymore! There are several easy and inexpensive precautions you can take to ensure that every day is a good hair day and you never again have to leave the house in a sloppy pony tail or old hat.

The first step starts long before that fateful morning when nothing works right. Always, always wash your hair with a quality shampoo. There are shampoos available for thick hair, thin hair, curly hair, color treated hair and many more. You should never struggle to find a shampoo that is right for your hair.

When you dry your hair, don’t forget that this is an important step in the styling process. The way you dry your hair can drastically affect the way your hair lays and looks during the rest of the day. To add volume, flip your head upside down and dry your hair starting at the nape of your neck and working you way outward with a brush.

For a super sleek and straight finish, part the hair and hold the dryer above the hair pointing straight down. Use a flat brush to pull the hair from root to tip as your follow it with the heat of the dryer. If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, consider using a diffuser to prevent any poofiness or frizziness.

Whether you are straightening or curling the hair, work section by section, spraying each part with a styling spray before you apply the heat. After you are finished, DO NOT brush the hair again; simply spray the hair with a setting hair spray and comb through it

The pony tail is great! We’ve all used a pony tail to pull our hair out of our face when running errands or as a last minute fix when there’s no time to do a full style. But the pony tail has so much more potential than that! It doesn’t have to be “just” a pony tail; it can be a sweet, sexy, flirty full on style.

The Triple Braid

This is perfect for work or going out for lunch with the girls; plus it’s super easy to do! After washing and drying your hair, spray it with a volumizing spray. Pull it back into a low pony tail, making sure that the top of your hair is loose and voluminous. Split the pony into three sections and braid each individually. Then braid each of the three together and secure with a clear plastic band. This oversize braid will give you a fun and focused look for any day of the week.

Side Pony

To get this look, pull your hair into a low, loose side pony and spray it with a thermal protection spray. Use a double barrel curling iron to get some tousled waves by wrapping 3-inch sections around the barrels and letting them heat just enough for a subtle wave. To add a little extra flair, wrap a section of hair around the elastic band and pin it down or fluff up your bangs and pin them back into a little poof.

This daring look is perfect for date night or going out on the town with your best girlfriends. Spritz your dry hair with a flexible hold hairspray and tease it all over to give it some volume. Pull your hair into a high pony on the top of you head and secure with a strong elastic band. Wrap your whole pony tail around itself and pin the ends down to create a big, loose bun. Pull out random sections for a bit more daring and messy-on-purpose effect.

Get the latest on the new "growing out bob" hair style! Celebrities like Ashley Olson and Emily Blunt are rockin' this look.

In 2010, the “growing out bob” look is surprisingly popular! You know, that awkward stage when you’re going from a short bob to long wavy, locks when your dark roots are starting to show and your highlights are starting to fade. Some stars are actually requesting this look from their stylists. They’ll ask them to cut it to that “in between” length to be a part of this growing trend. Rachael Bilson (The O.C.) even went so far as to have her roots dyed slightly darker than the rest of her hair to achieve this look!

For those interested in being a part of this trend, keep in mind that a bob, and a growing out bob, looks better with an asymmetrical cut. Ask your stylist to cut it slightly longer in the front and a bit shorter in the back. This hair cut is really the best of both worlds. It’s short enough to be trendy, but long enough to wear in a casual pony tail or a fancy up-do.

To achieve this look at home, be sure to invest in a pair of very high quality hair scissors. A pair of cheap shears from your local discount store isn’t going to cut it (pun intended). This particular hair cut tends to be easier to do when the hair is damp, but not dripping wet.

Starting with small sections, comb out your hair and grab a part of your hair between your index and middle finger. Measure your hair to the desired length and carefully snip off the excess using extra sharp hair scissors. Repeat this process until you have cut all of your hair. To make sure both sides are even, part your hair and carefully pull section that are directly across from each other on either side of your head and compare their length.

For those of you who are a little more daring, you could try a more complicated technique. Comb all of your hair forward and cut it to the desired length, doing small sections at a time. Be sure you keep a spray bottle filled with water nearby to use whenever you hair starts to dry out. You may need to enlist the help of a friend to trim the back of your hair, but this technique will help you achieve the “shorter in the back” look that is so popular in bobs.

Of course, you can always visit a stylist and have him or her do the cut, then maintain it on your own at home, or revisit the salon every 4-6 weeks for upkeep.
