When Something’s In Your Hair

June 28th, 2012

When I was a little girl, I loved to chew gum all the time. I loved it so much that I’d fall asleep with gum in my mouth even. The bad thing was, there was a time or two where I’d wake up with gum stuck in my hair. When these kinds of things happen, your first reaction might be to chop off your hair where the gum is. However, this is a bad idea because you could miss your long hair in the future. Here’s a couple different ways you can get rid of sticky junk in your hair without chopping it all off.

When a lot of people think to cut of their hair just because they get a piece of gum stuck in it, they could be making a mistake. Or what if the gum gets stuck in a very short part of your hair. For example, the scalp area: what if your gum happens to land a few inches from the scalp? If you decided to chop the hair off, you’d almost have to go bald! That could be okay for guys but girls love their hair and if they don’t want it to be a pixie cut, they obviously won’t want to cut it all off.

One of the best ways to get rid of the gum is to use one of the foods in your very own pantry. It may seem odd but peanut butter is one of the best tools for removing something sticky from your hair. You could try to wash your hair with soap and very hot water but that won’t get rid of the tangles and it won’t remove the whole wad of gum either. Peanut butter has a texture to it that absorbs the stickiness of the gum and will easily remove it from your hair. All you have to do is put a little bit of this sticky butter in your hair- just enough to cover the gum up and hide it from being seen. Leave it sit for as long as an hour just to be sure it’s working. Next you can wash your hair and slowly pick the gum and peanut butter from your hair.

Why would you want to get out your hair scissors when you could use something so handy like peanut butter. When a tragedy like this strikes, just know it may not be as easy as washing quick and going but it doesn’t have to be as difficult as chopping all your hair off with your hair scissors. Use this tip the next time your hair gets the gooey gunk in it.
