The Problem With Long Hair

June 21st, 2012

Many girls (myself included) love to grow their hair out and have long, luscious locks to brush through. Lots of girls love long hair that they can style all the time. With longer hair, you can do so much more than just straighten it each day. You can do braids without them falling out, you can pull it up in a ponytail, and so much more. However, there are a few rough things about long hair that may make your hair not as fun.

Sure, long hair can be super beautiful when it vines down your back looking shiny and luscious. But when it comes to your comfort, your mind may change on how “super beautiful” your hair is. When I say comfort, you say “what?” but it’s true; your hair can change how comfortable you are with yourself emotionally and physically. For example, when summer comes along and you’re working outside in the boiling sun, you don’t want hair that is going to weigh you down and stick to you when you’re trying to work. Long hair in the summer truly can be a pain-literally! So why not chop it off with your hair scissors?

You may also think the styling portion of long hair can be a pain. This one may not be so literal but think about it: if you’re curling your hair for a big event, it’s going to take much longer to style it if your hair is long than if it is short. Long hair may look cute when it’s curled and styled just right but when you get sick of doing your hair for two hours in the morning because you’re hair’s so long, then you might as well cut it.

When I say “cut it” I don’t mean you have to go out and just chop it off to be chin length and out of your way. There are so many ways you can style your hair with hair scissors. You can create layers, get it thinned, or even go with a different color as you cut it. There are so many options with hair and if you’re worried about not liking such a short length, always remember that it’s just hair and it will grow back, guaranteed!
